EXERCISES:
EXERCISE 1: What stress pattern follow these verbs?
узнава́ть, по́мнить, моло́ть, пока́зывать

EXERCISE 2: Obtain all Present forms of the verb, knowing the forms of the 1st person singular, the number of conjugation and the stress pattern.
FOR EXAMPLE:
– смотре́ть (to watch) – я смотрю́, the 2nd conjugation, pattern “c”
This verb refers to the 2nd conjugation, therefore in the Present Tense it has the following endings:
-ю, -ишь, -ит, -им, -ите, -ят.
The verb follows the pattern “c”, consequently only in the 1st person singular the stress falls on the ending: я смотрю́
But in other forms the stress shifts back one syllable:
ты смо́тришь
он/она́/оно́ смо́трит
мы смо́трим
вы смо́трите
они́ смо́трят

THE VERBS FOR PRACTICE:
  • понима́ть (to understand) – я понима́ю, the 1st conjugation, stress pattern “a”
  • существова́ть (to exist) – я существу́ю, the 1st conjugation, stress pattern “a”
  • мыть (to wash) – я мо́ю, the 1st conjugation, stress pattern “a”
  • крича́ть (to shout) – я кричу́, the 2nd conjugation, stress pattern “b”
